Socrates Sculpture Park was an abandoned riverside landfill and illegal dumpsite until 1986 when a coalition of artists and community members transformed it into an open studio and exhibition space for artists and a neighborhood park for local residents. Today the park is an internationally renowned outdoor museum and artist residency program that also serves as a vital NYC park offering a wide variety of public services.

Plant Specialists have trained the park's staff and donated every plant in the park over the last 20 years. Now we have taken our commitment to the Park one step further by redefining, expanding and managing the Community Works Initiative Program to fund job training programs in the area, which currently has a massive 60% unemployment rate.

Please show your support and donate to help the continuing development of the program. You can donate by clicking the button on the left of the screen or by calling Ellen Staller at the Socrates Sculpture Park on 718-956-1819 ext. 12, quoting Plant Specialists - Community Works Initiative Program.
