Introduction
Many people use these in their gardens for a summer splash of color. But did you know they do extremely well indoors too!
The cultivar is called Begonia x hiemalis. It is a stunning indoor bloomer that thrive with bright, indirect light and well-draining soil.
Care
Best spot is an east or southeast-facing window. Avoid harsh, direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the delicate leaves.
Water only when the top inch of soil is dry and allow the top inch of soil to dry out thoroughly between waterings.
Do not get the foliage wet as this will lead to powdery mildew.
Never let the plant sit in standing water, as this leads to root rot.
Fertilize in Spring and Summer every three weeks using a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer.
Deadhead faded flowers to encourage the plant to produce new, continuous blooms.
In winter, your begonia may enter a dormant or resting period after months. At this time, cut back the bloom stalks and reduce watering.
They come in a range of pastel colors -
