Most of us know the common Aglaonema (Chinese Evergreen) as an easy to care for low-maintenance tropical houseplant. With its striking foliage, its lance-shaped leaves emerge in bright combinations of variegation with bits of white, yellow and deep green.

Because it naturally adapts to low-light conditions and forgives inconsistent watering, it is perfect for both beginner and expert plant parents.

But wait ! These are different ! They come intones of red and are as easy to grow as their variegated cousins.

Siam Aurora features glowing, bright red stems and dark green leaves outlined in fiery red. Red Valentine boasts broad, glossy leaves with deep green margins and a mottled, rosy-red center. China Red has a highly saturated, almost solid red center that deepens in color as the plant matures. And more !

Care

Place in bright, indirect light. It will survive in dimmer areas, but brighter light will help the leaves keep their intense, fiery red coloration.

Protect from direct sun, which can scorch and fade the leaves.

Water thoroughly, then allow the top 50% of the soil to dry out before watering again. They are drought-tolerant, so it is best to under-water rather than over-water, ensuring the plant never sits in soggy soil.

Thrives in normal household temperatures (65°F - 80°F) and average humidity. Keep away from cold drafts and breezy AC units.

Like all Aglaonema varieties, it is toxic to pets if ingested, so it is best to keep it out of reach of curious cats and dogs. Children too!
